On Saturday night, my husband and I attended the Celebration of Sound Masquerade Ball to benefit the CLARKE Jacksonville Auditory/Oral Center. It was a fantastic night of live and silent auctions, wonderfully spicey New Orleans style food, dancing and guest speaker Vonetta Flowers. Vonette Flowers was the first African-American to win a gold medal in the Winter Olympics. She spoke about her experience as a mother of a deaf child, and how much the Clarke School has changed their lives.Sunday, February 10, 2008
